William Akio grabbed the headlines after his involvement in a bizarre scene in a Canadian Premier League tie involving his team Valour FC and HFX Wanderers.

In the 17th minute of the encounter, William Akio denied his own team a certain goal.

South Sudan striker cleared a goal that was going into the net to deny his side a goal which eventually came in the 84th minute of the game.

Valour FC won the game 1-0 to save the blushes of William Akio.
