“Suspicious” death of a woman found in river in Loveland under investigation

Loveland police are investigating the death — which they describe as “suspicious” — of a woman whose body was found in the Big Thompson River on Monday.

The woman was 49, police said, but they have not released an identity.

Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive female in the river in Barnes Park, at 405 S. Cleveland Ave., around 11:15 a.m. Monday, and medics arrived only to declare the woman dead at the scene.

Detectives are working with the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office on the investigation and the Larimer County Coroner’s Office will attempt to identify the woman. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Loveland Police Detective Gerardo Cortina at 970-962-2061.
