Success Makanjuoala fires Nigeria past Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam

Nigeria U-23 Eagles skipper Success Makanjuoala scored the only goal in Nigeria’s 0-1 defeat of hosts Tanzania in the first leg of their Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coach Salisu Yusuf tutored Nigeria U-23 team dominated the opening exchanges and the pressure paid off when Akanni Qudus was brought down in the box for a Penalty.

CD Diocesano of Spain winger Success Makanjuoala stepped up to convert the spot-kick for what was the only goal of the match.

At full-time, 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations winners Nigeria walked off the  Benjamin Mkpaka Stadium in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania with a 1-0 advantage ahead of the return leg in Nigeria.

Nigeria will host the return leg on October 29 at the Lekan Salami Stadium Ibadan.

The aggregate winner of the match will proceed to the third and final qualifying round for a place at the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Morroco.
