The pair of Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka will face in the women’s final of the 2023 Australian Open after they each won their semifinal matches to secure a place in Saturday’s final.
Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will be looking to claim her second Grand Slam title after she defeated Victoria Azarenka in straight sets in the semifinal of the 2023 Australian Open. The 23-year-old world number 23 won the match 7-6 6-3 to reach only her second-ever major final.
Fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka continued her march towards the Australian Open title. The 24-year-old Belarusian star claimed a straight sets win over Magda Linette, ending her fairytale run to the semifinals in the process. Sabalenka won the match 7-6 6-2 to reach the final. Arguably the most in-form tennis player this year, she has yet to drop a single set in any competition this year and last lost a match in October 2022. She will be looking to pick up her maiden Grand Slam crown when she faces Kazakhstan’s Rybakina on Saturday.
