Remo Stars wonderkid joins Inter Milan

Italian giants Inter Milan have completed the signing of teenage star Ebenezer Akinsanmiro from NPFL outfit Remo Stars. The attacking midfielder will move to Italy this month to join the Nerazzurri. He made a handful of league and cup appearances for the Sky Blue Stars despite his tender years.

Akinsanmiro played for Remo Stars’ U-19 side, Beyond Limits FA, where he developed alongside the likes of Oluwaseun Odunsi, Olisa Emmanuel and Onyebuchi Obasi, all of whom have played been promoted to the senior team. The 18-year-old was spotted by Inter Milan scouts at the Viareggio Academy Tournament in Italy in March 2022, where he helped his academy side overcome some of Italy’s biggest academy teams, eventually finishing second behind Sassuolo.

Akinsanmiro signed a pre-contract agreement with the Nerazzurri shortly after the tournament before returning to continue training with Beyond Limits FA. The midfielder had offers from other clubs around Europe, including Hammarby IF, former club of Super Eagles starlet Akinkunmi Amoo, and Real Madrid.

The annual Viareggio tournament has proven to be a good hunting ground for talent, with the likes of Ciro Immobile, Bryan Cristante and Leonardo Spinazzola among the players to have left their mark on the tournament. Akinsanmiro will be hoping to emulate these stars when he gets to Italy.

Remo Stars will hope to continue to churn out talents through their youth setup after Morgan Agbeko and Lekan Oyedele joined FC Famalicao and CD Feirense in Portugal, respectively.
