Human remains found in Routt County have been identified as those of an Iowa man who was reported missing from the Rainbow Family gathering this summer.
On Wednesday the Routt County Coroner’s Office positively identified the remains as Jacob Michael Cyr, of Treynor, Iowa, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The coroner and the sheriff’s office consulted with a forensic anthropologist and a pathologist who both examined the remains. Dental records of Cyr were used to compare with the remains by two different dentists as part of the investigation, the release said.
Cyr had been reported missing from the Rainbow Family gathering near Adam’s Park on Aug. 8. The remains were found in the area on Sept. 4. The cause and manner of his death are undetermined.
