A power outage shut down the RTD N Line just before noon on Saturday and 12 passengers aboard two stuck trains, downed in the outage, were safely evacuated.

The trains, without air conditioning, were between stations in the area of the 4900 block of Brighton Boulevard, said Laurie Huff, an RTD spokeswoman.

Temperatures on Saturday in the metro area were above 90 degrees by the noon hour, according to the weather service.

The Denver Fire Department responded to help safely evacuate passengers in potentially dangerous heat.

Xcel Energy, at about 1 p.m., reported ten outages in the metro impacting 327 passenger.

RTD crews were investigating the cause of the outage and working to restore power to the line.
