Person killed in early morning crash near Gateway


A person was killed early Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle.

The crash happened near 56th Avenue and Peña Boulevard near Gateway, the Denver Police Department said in a 5:05 a.m. tweet.

The person who was hit died at the scene, police said, and the driver of the car stayed at the scene.

The crash closed 56th Avenue between Peña Boulevard and Tower Road.
