NWFL: Ibom Angels FC Chairman promises improved second stanza performance, apologizes to fans for poor first round results


Chairman of relegation threatened Nigeria Women’s Football League club Ibom Angels FC, Mr. Moses Nana, has promised the club will perform better in the second round of the 2022/2023 season.

The top-flight Women’s football league in Nigeria is currently on break and will resume for the second stanza in February 2023.

The Ibom Angels FC chairman in an interview with the clubs media unit, apologized to their supporters for the poor first round results and acknowledged the need for reinforcements with revelation that plans are underway to beef up the team.

Nana said ” We have contacted over five players to join the team to fortify it ahead of the second round of the league.

” We are sincerely sorry for the team’s bad performance as some of the players couldn’t live up to expectations. ”

Ibom Angels FC sit bottom of Group B in the NWFL following poor results which included three consecutive home defeats a situation the chairman described as disastrous but redeemable.

” So some new players are already on their way to join the camp of the team, ” Nana added.

” We hope to see a new improved side in the second round.”

In the just concluded first stanza, Ibom Angels FC played a total of 6 games, recording one win and suffering 5 losses, the last a 0-1 loss to Confluence Queens FC at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo on Wednesday January 18, 2023.

The Nigeria Women’s Football League mid-season transfer window will open on January 23 and run till February 3 to allow Ibom Angels FC and other clubs opportunity to reinforce ahead of the business end of the season.
