NBA superstar Steph Curry and his wife, cooking show host Ayesha Curry, bought a house in Winter Park for $2.1 million. But before Magic fans get their hopes up for poaching the Golden State Warriors’ MVP, reports say the home is for a family member.
Built in 2014, the 3,978 square-foot house was listed by Fannie Hillman & Associates for $1.69 million, more than $400,000 less than what the cookbook author and her point guard husband paid for it, a testament to Orlando’s hot housing market.
Calls to the real estate agents who handled the sale were not returned in time for this story.
Located on Edwin Boulevard in the brick-paved neighborhood off Lakemont Avenue, the four-bedroom home features a built-in espresso machine in the kitchen and two fireplaces. It is not waterfront and doesn’t have a pool.
The relatively modest home (when compared to, say, Shaq’s former Isleworth mansion) seemed an odd choice for the four-time NBA champion, but the Orlando Business Journal has reported the house was purchased for someone in Curry’s family, citing unnamed sources.
Curry’s brother, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Seth, is married to Callie Rivers, who won three consecutive state volleyball championships with Winter Park High School.
Rivers’ brother, Austin, also plays in the NBA and led Winter Park High to a state basketball title in 2010. Their father is current Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers, a former coach of the Orlando Magic.
