Gutierrez was identified as a suspect in the shooting death of 36-year-old Javier Cano Castillo of Denver, according to Lakewood police.
Castillo’s body was found inside a pickup on the morning of Oct. 10 near a gas station in the 3400 block of South Wadsworth Boulevard. The homicide investigation indicates that Castillo likely was shot and killed inside the truck at that location on Oct. 7, police said.
The shooting death of Castillo remains an active investigation, police said. Denver police continue to investigate Gutierrez’s death.
