The in-custody death happened on Dec. 24, Adams County Sheriff Gene Claps said in a video posted to the agency’s Twitter account at 2:27 p.m. Friday.
Deputies found the man suffering from an “unknown medical emergency,” Claps said. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. The inmate, who was not identified, had been in the jail for about 12 months.
Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology reports from the Adams County Coroner’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation.
