President of the NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has dedicated the Flamingos Bronze medal at the FIFA U-17 World Cup to the Federal Government and the good people of Nigeria.
Gusau who has been with the team from the time they made it to the quarterfinal was proud of the girls for fighting to the end to claim the Bronze medals.
“This is a victory for the Government and good people of Nigeria.
“The girls and their technical and administrative crew did very well to win something from this tournament and give Nigeria joy.
“I commend their determination and commitment to a noble goal.”
The newly elected president of the Nigeria Football Federation promised the Flamingos a total of 21,000 USD if they win the tournament for him.
Gusau promised 10,000 USD to the players should they win the title, and 5,000 USD if they win the semifinal game against Columbia.
3,000 USD for the win against Chile in their last group game, and another 3,000 USD for the win against the USA in the Quarterfinal.
While they would have missed out on 15,000 USD, they would have received the 6,000 USD promised them by the president who said the monies will be paid directly into their accounts.
Meanwhile, the victorious Flamingos will fly back into Nigeria at noon on Tuesday.
