Frigid wind chills Friday before Christmas warm-up

Keep those winter coats out, but get ready for some warmer weather this weekend.

Denver’s wind chill warning continues through 11 a.m. Friday morning as wind chill values could reach -15 degrees while temperatures stay in the negatives or single digits, but a weekend warmup is on the horizon just in time for Christmas.

Friday afternoon will “warm” slightly to a 15-degree high, and while some snow will fall over the mountains, the Urban Corridor and the plains will stay mostly dry through the weekend.

Friday night will drop down to eight degrees but will warm up to about 18 degrees by 5 a.m. as the cold snap leaves the area.

Then Saturday, the clouds will gradually leave the area and temperatures will warm to 45 degrees for the high as the day becomes sunny.

Saturday’s low is 22 degrees, then Denverites are in for a moderate and sunny Christmas Sunday as temperatures warm to 54 degrees.

Sunday night will drop to 27 degrees, then it’s back up to the 50s Monday as the high reaches 52 degrees.
