Explosion at multi-residential building in Aurora blows at exterior wall as firefighters were checking on smoke



Aurora firefighters were at a multi-residential building checking on smoke when an explosion blew out an exterior wall of a 4th-floor unit.

Three people were injured in the blast, according to Aurora Fire Rescue. Two were taken to University Hospital and one was taken to the Medical Center of Aurora.

Aurora Fire Rescue responded to reports of smoke at 14565 E. Alameda Ave., according to a 9:57 a.m. AFR tweet.

Firefighters were on scene searching for hazards with the explosion tore out an exterior wall.

People were urged to stay away from the building and units were evacuated, AFR said. The building was structurally damaged. An investigation into the cause of the blast is ongoing.
