Police say they shot and killed a 22-year-old man in Englewood on Sunday night.

According to a press release from the Englewood Police Department, “officers were met with gunfire” while investigating a disturbance inside a home in the 5000 block of South Grove Street. They’d initially caught wind of the disturbance at the residence around 7:39 p.m.

Police say they began shooting back, their shots hitting and killing the man. No officers were injured, the Englewood Police Department says.

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, according to the press release.

The Englewood Police S.W.A.T. Team arrived at the scene and “secured the residence” while the 18th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team came to investigate.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no other details are available.
