Taiwo Awoniyi has joined newly promoted EPL side Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin for a club record £17m fee. The Nigerian forward expressed excitement after a dream return to the English Premier League.
Taiwo Awoniyi was previously on the books of EPL giants Liverpool for six years. The Nigerian never had the opportunity of a dream English Premier League bow as he spent the period on loan at various clubs until his permanent transfer to Union Berlin.
Here is Awoniyi’s first statement as a Nottingham Forest player ” I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” Awoniyi said. “It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it’s a club that I want to be part of.” He concluded .
Taiwo Awoniyi becomes Steve Copper’s first signing this summer as Forest prepare for a return to the English Premier League after 23 years. Manchester United and England Goalkeeper is reportedly close to a loan switch plus a number of summer reinforcements expected at the club.
Taiwo Awoniyi could get his dream English Premier League debut at St James park when Nottingham Forest kickstart their 2022/2023 English Premier League season vs Newcastle on August 5, 2022.
