Prime Video announced on Thursday that the four-episode docuseries “Coach Prime,” featuring new Colorado head coach Deion Sanders will premier Dec. 29.
The series, from SMAC Productions, covers Jackson State’s 2022 football season, led by Sanders, who is wrapping up his third season with the Tigers.
Sanders was introduced as CU’s new head coach on Dec. 4, but he is finishing his season with Jackson State. The Tigers (12-0) will face North Carolina Central (9-2) in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday in Atlanta.
Along with announcing the premier date, Prime Video released a trailer for the docuseries. The series gives viewers an inside look at the Tigers’ season, including practices, games, the locker room, off the field and in the community.
“I am honored and elated to share this inside look at how our program made history as JSU’s first undefeated regular season football team,” Sanders said in a press release. “This group of young men are smart, tough, fast and disciplined with character, and together, we were able to dominate all season long.
“You’ll see it all this season — the highs and lows and the way this community came together. This is the most resilient and inspiring group of people I have ever met. I can’t say enough about the people of Jackson.”
Ex-Buff finds new home
Former CU offensive lineman Austin Johnson is heading across the country.
On Thursday, Johnson announced his decision to transfer to Charlotte and play for the 49ers.
A graduate of Highlands Ranch High School, Johnson started six games at center this season and played 409 snaps for the Buffs.
In going to Charlotte, Johnson will be reunited with new 49ers’ offensive line coach Kyle DeVan, who was one of several assistants let go last week after Sanders was hired. DeVan is the first of the 2022 assistants to find a new job.
Johnson is the second former Buff to announce a new destination, as cornerback Kaylin Moore has committed to California.
