COMMERCE CITY — In Drew Moor’s final home game in burgundy, the Colorado Rapids made sure to send him off a winner.
Diego Rubio scored in the 66th minute and the Rapids earned a 1-0 win over Dallas on Saturday. William Yarbrough stopped one shot to earn the shutout for Colorado.
Rubio broke the Rapids’ club record record for most goal contributions in a season (22), and set a new record for most career game-winning goals (13).
Moor announced his impending retirement on Friday, meaning Saturday’s game was last appearance at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Moore came on in the 79th minute, a few minutes after Gustavo Vallecilla was hit with a red card.
“A good win obviously against a good team,” Moor said. “(We were) behind the eight ball a little bit with a red card and I guess it presented an opportunity for me to come out in a situation I wasn’t expecting to, but I’ve been in that situation before and so to be able to close the door was a pretty, pretty special way to finish off my career here at least.”
