Courtland Sutton questionable with hamstring injury, but says he’s hopeful he’ll play

Cortland Sutton’s heard his fair share of jokes about hamstrings the past couple of weeks.

“One of my (friends) said to me, ‘I thought hamstring injuries are for fast people,’” he told The Post on Friday.

The Broncos top receiver has missed the past two-plus games after he hurt one of his in the second quarter of a Dec. 4 game against Baltimore. He is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams after being a limited participant the past three days in practice, but said Friday he’s in good position to play.

“Yeah, I think if everything goes the way we want it to go and it keeps trending in the right direction like we want it to, it’ll be nice to be able to go out there, play on Sunday and help the team,” he said.

His return would mark the first time he and Jerry Jeudy played a game together since Denver’s win against Jacksonville on Oct. 30, excluding the first snap in Week 10 against Tennessee, when Jeudy hurt his ankle.

Sutton has 52 catches for 688 yards and a touchdown this season in 12 games. Jeudy has 49 for 663 and six in 12 games.

“I’ve been in the training room trying to get the hammy right,” he said. “It’s a process, but it’s good to be back out there with the guys and try to help contribute and finish the season strong.”

Head coach Nathaniel Hackett said earlier this week that if Sutton plays, he and Jeudy will both see time in multiple receiver roles. With Sutton out of the lineup the past two weeks, Jeudy has played the “X” spot more frequently and has 15 catches on 17 targets for 149 yards and three touchdowns.

No practice for Gregory. Randy Gregory is among the five players listed as questionable, though he did not see any practice time this week.

Gregory dealt with soreness in his knee after playing 23 snaps against Arizona in his first game action since Week 4.

“We’re just going to play it safe. We want to be sure we take care of him,” Hackett said. “He was sore after the game and it had been a while since he played, so he’s done a great job in meetings, done a great job of getting his knee right and mind right. We’re excited and we hope he’s going to be out there, but that’ll be more of a game-time decision.”

Other injury updates. The other four players listed as questionable: Running back Latavius Murray (foot), offensive linemen Dalton Risner (shoulder/back/foot) and Calvin Anderson (ankle) and defensive back K’Waun Williams (knee).

Murray and Williams made it clear Friday after practice that they’re ready to play. Anderson had an air cast on his right foot after hurting his ankle Thursday in practice. Risner was a limited participant in practice Friday after missing Thursday entirely.
