Chilly Veterans Day, near freezing temperatures ahead

Bundle up for your Veterans Day celebrations this weekend and be prepared for below freezing low temperatures and some of the coldest nights of the season so far.

Friday is going to be a clear, sunny day, but the morning is starting with temperatures near 20 degrees and will rise only to 39 degrees this afternoon

The low tonight is 20 degrees, but forecasters at the National Weather Service in Boulder said temperatures could drop to the teens in the Denver area.

“Temperatures will fall to their coldest values of the season tonight with lows near zero across the high country, and in the single digits to teens for most of the plains and foothills,” forecasters said.

Saturday will warm slightly to a high of 52 degrees and be mostly sunny, and the low will be in the mid-20s.

Sunday will have a high of 49 degrees, but a cold front sweeping through Colorado will drop the low to just 20 degrees.

The cold front will also cause the next work week to start out with a Monday high of only 38 degrees and a low of 21 degrees.

Tuesday’s high is the coldest in the forecast at 36 degrees, and some snow could fall Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday and Thursday will start slightly warming up with high near 40 degrees.
