Cherry Creek cancels classes due to cold temps

The Cherry Creek School District will close its schools because of the “extreme cold temperatures” that are expected to hit the state starting Wednesday evening.

The district’s full closure on Thursday means all classes, school activities, and before- and after-school daycare programs are canceled.

Daycare programs will resume Friday, but classes won’t return until Jan. 10 because of winter break, the district tweeted.

The district isn’t the only one to cancel classes because of the incoming storm. 27J Schools, based in Brighton, will close Thursday and Friday as well.

The St. Vrain Valley School District said it is moving classes online on Thursday and buildings will be closed to in-person learning. High schoolers will take their final exams online as well, the district said.
