Can Tunisia defeat the World Champions to boost their World Cup last-16 qualification hopes from Group D

Tunisia will face World Champions France in their final Group D game of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, today knowing only a win will be of benefit to their last-16 qualification hopes.

The Atlas Lions are bottom of Group D with one point from their opening game draw vs Denmark who sit in third place on same points and face second place Australia (3 points) in the other Group D round 3 game.

Tunisia and France last met in a friendly match in 2010. That encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tunisia have never defeated France, the Les Blues alternating between winning and drawing in all their previous five meetings at full international level.

Encouraging news for Didier Deschamps’s who will likely ring the changes with the French already through to the last-16 , Tunisia will thus keep their eyes off the history books when they seek motivation for the big task at hand.

A tough call considering the Jalel Kadri’s men have failed to score in Qatar, drawing blank in the 0-0 draw vs Denmark before bowing to a 0-1 loss to Australia on Saturday.

Tunisia’s hopes going into this one will be the fact that France have already qualified for the last-16 and could take foot off the steam.

Also, Qatar 2022 has produced loads of surprise outcomes, the Africans will hope to create one for themselves at the Education City Stadium if they must progress.

Jalel Kadri will have to find a solution to their goalscoring struggles which has left them as one of two countries without a goal in Qatar.

Defensively, they have been compact, conceding once in 180 minutes. To go past France, they will have to produce a solid defensive performance against a blessed French attack.

The first task is securing victory over France to get Four points, the other is hope Australia are not victorious against Denmark in the other game.

Also, a Denmark win will mean Tunisia must better their result vs France.

While fighting to grind a result vs France, Tunisia will be looking for the Australia and Denmark game to end in a draw.

Tunisia predicted lineup: Dahmen; Meriah, Bronn, Talbi; Skhiri, Kechrida, Laidouni, Abdi; Sliti, Msakni; Khazri

France predicted lineup: Mandanda; Varane, Pavard, Konate, Camavinga; Fofana, Guendouzi; Coman, Mbappe, Griezmann; Thuram

The Tunisia Vs France game will take place on Wednesday November 30 at the Education City Stadium in Qatar by 4pm (Nigerian time), same time as Australia Vs Denmark .
