Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has been appointed new manager of English Championship side Burnley.
The Belgian resigned his position as Anderlecht manager at the end of last season and will resume at Turf moor with a target of returning the clarets to the English Premier League next season.
Vincent Kompany takes over from caretaker manager Mike Johnson under whose watch Burnley relegated to the second tier. The club had parted ways with long term manager Sean Dyche following a disappointing run but the change failed to yield the desired turnaround.
Vincent Kompany will oversee the rebuilding of a Burnley team following the confirmation of the departure of several key players. His pedigree and relationship with Manchester City will be key starting with negotiation for the youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis .
