Fire crews were responding to a brush fire several miles south of Morrison Tuesday afternoon, near the intersection of U.S. 285 and State Highway 8, and have already ordered evacuations for homes in the area.
Authorities said the fire is near Mt. Lindo and is on the south side of U.S. 285, and spreading south, burning in grass, brush and trees. Full evacuations of Mt. Lindo and the top of Willow Springs have been ordered and the restaurant, The Fort, is serving as an evacuation site.

“We’re conducting door-to-door evacuations of homes in the area; no structures are immediately threatened,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tweeted Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office said air support is on the scene. Expect road closures in the area, including State Highway 8, Snowcreek Lane and Tiger Bend Lane.
