A 22-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man at Berkeley Lake Park turned himself into police Wednesday,
Miguel Piria, 22, knew the man he is suspected of shooting Monday afternoon, Denver police said in a news release.
Police received a call Monday about a man who was shot in Berkeley Lake Park near the intersection of North Tennyson Street and East 46th Avenue. The man was placed in a car and driven from the area, the caller said.
While officers investigated the shooting in the park, they received a call about a gunshot victim found near East Andrews Drive and North Dillon Street whom they later identified as the man shot in the park.
Detectives later determined that Piria knew the victim, who has not yet been identified by the Office of the Medical Examiner. Denver police did not immediately provide Piria’s arrest affidavit Wednesday afternoon.
Piria was held Wednesday in the Downtown Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder.
