The deadline for a community survey as part of Aurora’s process to hire a new fire chief has been extended.
CPS HR Consulting, a California-based recruiting firm hired by the city, has extended the community survey deadline to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, according to a news release.
Community members can complete the survey online at EngageAurora.org/FireChiefSearch.
The community survey was launched on Oct. 6 and it has been promoted through a variety of digital platforms.
On July 15, Aurora Fire Rescue Chief Fernando Gray left the department after serving five years as chief. Gray accepted a position as chief with the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department.
CPS HR Consulting specializes in the recruitment and selection of executive-level professionals in city, county, state, special district and nonprofit agencies.
The initial recruiting process is expected to last for several more weeks, with formalized interviews with semi-finalists and finalists being done in December and perhaps into January, according to the release.
Deputy Chief Allen Robnett, an Aurora native and AFR firefighter for 33 years, is serving as interim chief pending the hiring process outcome.
