The australian website www.drive.com.au has featured a rendering of what the upcoming 2024 Mercedes CLA might look like.
As we announced on 24 May 2022, the Mercedes CLA will be the first model of the third generation of Mercedes compact models to use the new MMA platform.
It is developed primarily for electric propulsion but can also support various types of hybrid propulsion.
The Australian website www.drive.com.au has featured a rendering of what the next generation Mercedes CLA might look like based on the latest teasers. The computer images by designer Andrei Avarvarii show that the future Mercedes CLA has a design inspired by the Vision EQXX electric concept car, which demonstrated its extraordinary efficiency on a 1000 km tour without the need to charge, with an energy consumption of less than 10 kWh/100 km.
Compared to the current CLA generation, we can observe the slim headlights and tailights which follow the current design philosophy from C-Class and S-Class. The rendering presents the sporty version AMG CLA 35 which will remain on the list.
At the conference where Mercedes announced the change of strategy and the division of the model range into three main categories – Top End Luxury, Core Luxury and Entry Luxury, chief designer Gorden Wagener briefly presented what he called “the entry level luxury car”. Looking at the shape of the body, it is obvious that this is the silhouette of the future Mercedes CLA four-door coupe.

As with the Vision EQXX, the silhouette of the future CLA will be slimmer. The powertrain will be both electric and PHEV/conventional. Mercedes has not yet given any details about the electric powertrain.
But as far as conventional powertrain is concerned, under the bonnet will be the new 2-litre turbo engines developed with Geely at the new plant in China that will meet the new Euro 7 standards. AMG versions will continue to use a 2 liter turbo engine.
The future compact range will consist of only 4 models: CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA and GLB.
