10-man Barcelona win at Osasuna to go into 2022 World Cup atop La Liga log

10-man Barcelona have secured a 2-1 victory against Osasuna at the Estadio El Sadar in a La Liga game to ensure they go into the FIFA 2022 World Cup break atop La Liga table.

Osasuna scored the first goal of the game through David Garcia as early as the 6th minute of the game from a corner kick.

Barcelona were reduced to 10-man when star player Robert Lewandowski was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card in the 31 minutes.

Gerard Pique who was also on the bench for Barcelona in his last game after announcing his retirement was also given a red card after complaining to referee Jesus Gil at the end of the first half.

Barcelona got an equalizer through Pedri, 3 minutes into the start of the second half.

For some reason, Osasuna were not finding it easy as 10-man Barcelona appeared to be playing a lot better.

A great pass from a midfielder turned center-back, Frenkie De Jong headed in by Rapinha in the 85th minute handed Barcelona a tough 2-1 win at Osasuna.

The win ensured Barcelona remained top of the log with 37 points after 14 games, five more points ahead of Real Madrid who will play against Cadiz on Thursday.

There will be no La Liga games until after the World Cup, regardless of the outcome of the game between second-place Real Madrid and Cadiz, Barcelona will remain the top team going into the World Cup.
