After a crash Saturday night that killed one man and sent two other people to a hospital with serious injuries, the Loveland Police Department is investigating.
Loveland Police responded to the intersection of East Eisenhower Boulevard and North Denver Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. after reports of a vehicle crash involving two vehicles and multiple parties.
In a news release, police said the investigation revealed a 26-year-old man, identified as Dustin Kirby, was driving a black Dodge Ram, traveling eastbound on Eisenhower Boulevard approaching the intersection with Denver Avenue when he ran a red light, striking a tan Subaru Legacy, which was traveling northbound on Denver Avenue, entering the intersection.
The driver of the Subaru Legacy was a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-woman was a front seat passenger and a 34-year-old was riding in the rear seat.
Both passengers of the Subaru were thrown from the vehicle and the driver was partially ejected, the release stated.
The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured.
Speed and alcohol are suspected as contributing factors to the crash, the release said.
Kirby was arrested on one count of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault and one count of DUI. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail, according to police.
The identity of the man who died will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
